In a distressing turn of events in Siwan, an 18-year-old student is fighting for her life after being pushed off her rooftop by a police station chief amid a contentious parking dispute. The victim's family alleges that the officer forcefully entered their home, escalating to a violent confrontation.
Patna: An FIR has been registered against the station house officer (SHO) of Darauli police station in Siwan district for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old girl student and pushing her off the roof of her house during a probe over a parking dispute.
The girl is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and is stated to be critical.The incident occurred at Tikulia village under Darauli police station. According to the victim’s family, a dispute broke out between two neighbours over bike parking on April 2, following which both sides lodged complaints and later secured bail. The family alleged that police pressure increased due to the influence and money of the opposite party.The injured girl, identified as Reema Kumari Gond (18), daughter of Vijay Gond, alleged that on April 10, Darauli SHO Avinash Kumar Jha arrived at her house with a woman constable when her parents were away. She claimed the officers entered the house without permission, abused her, and assaulted her. Reema alleged that she was pushed off the roof, causing fractures to both legs and one arm.Family members rushed her to a local health centre, from where she was referred to Sadar hospital and later to a private nursing home.
The family further alleged that the SHO later attempted to suppress the matter.Siwan superintendent of police Puran Kumar Jha said, “An FIR has been registered based on the family’s complaint, and a three-member committee has been formed to probe the incident. The SHO has been sent to police lines pending inquiry. Further action will be taken after the probe report is submitted.”
