Fire At Bengaluru's Nagasandra Metro Station; Namma Metro Services Unaffected

Smoke and flames were seen at Nagasandra Metro Station in Bengaluru after a signboard caught fire. The blaze was quickly contained and train services continued without disruption.

A minor fire broke out at Nagasandra Metro Station on Bengaluru’s Namma Metro network on Sunday afternoon, triggering concern among commuters after flames and smoke were seen emerging from the station premises.

The incident occurred at the metro station on the Green Line’s Madavara-Silk Institute corridor.

According to Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the fire was reported at nearly 1.30 pm near the Emergency Exit area of the station and involved a signboard.

Visuals from the spot showed flames and thick smoke rising from a section of the station, drawing the attention of commuters and residents in the surrounding area.

The images quickly circulated, raising concerns about safety at the station.

In a statement issued following the incident, BMRCL said its Operations and Fire Response Teams immediately rushed to the site after receiving information about the fire.

“The Operations and Fire Response Teams immediately attended the site and promptly extinguished the fire. The situation is fully under control," the metro corporation said.

Authorities described the incident as a minor fire and said it was contained swiftly before it could spread further.

Officials also confirmed that there was no untoward incident and that no injuries had been reported.

BMRCL said metro train operations on the corridor continued as normal despite the fire.

“There has been no untoward incident and no disruption to Metro train services," the corporation said in its media information release.

The metro operator appealed to the public not to panic, emphasising that the situation had been brought under control shortly after the fire was detected.

“The public is requested not to panic. Further updates, if any, will be shared," the statement added.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Authorities have not yet provided details on what may have triggered the blaze involving the signboard near the emergency exit area.

The incident briefly caused alarm after flames and smoke became visible from outside the station premises.

However, the prompt response by emergency personnel ensured that the fire was extinguished quickly and that metro services remained unaffected.

Nagasandra Metro Station is located on Bengaluru’s Green Line corridor connecting Madavara and Silk Institute.
