‘Fire tragedy a result of administrative failure, negligence’

Lucknow: Senior advocate Satyendra Kumar on Tuesday expressed grief over the Aliganj fire incident and termed it a result of administrative failure and negligence.He questioned how LDA, concerned engineers, administration and fire department failed to act if the building was not complying with safety norms.Pandey also questioned the delay in relief and rescue operations, saying accountability should not be limited to the building operator and must extend to officials who ignored violations or failed to perform their duties.He demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident and sought strict action against any LDA officials, engineers, fire department personnel or others found guilty. He also sought justice and compensation for the families of the deceased.
