Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit the United Kingdom next month with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking the family’s first trip to Britain in four years.
During the visit, they are expected to stay partly at a royal residence, the first time they have accepted an offer of accommodation on the royal estate since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
First UK Family Visit in Four Years
The Sussexes last visited the UK together in 2022 for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Their upcoming stay has sparked fresh speculation about a possible easing of tensions within the royal family following years of strained relations, according to a report in CNN.
After relocating to California in pursuit of a “financially independent" life, Harry and Meghan publicly cited tabloid intrusion, family tensions and racism within British institutions as factors behind their departure from royal life. Harry has returned to Britain on several occasions since then, including for King Charles III’s coronation in 2023 and legal proceedings related to alleged unlawful information gathering by the publisher of the Daily Mail.
Move Sparks Reconciliation Speculation
The prince also met privately with his father at Clarence House in September last year while the King was undergoing cancer treatment, fuelling hopes of reconciliation. However, reports suggest Harry remains estranged from his brother, Prince William.
The July visit will see Prince Harry celebrate a year until the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, which Harry founded for wounded and injured military personnel. Meghan is expected to join him at Invictus-related engagements in London, while the couple’s children will remain out of the public eye. Details of the family’s security arrangements have not been disclosed, although they would receive protection while staying at royal residences.
