First warning issued as Godavari water level rises above danger mark at Bhadrachalam after heavy rains

HYDERABAD: Following heavy rains that have been lashing the state, the Godavari water level at Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district reached 43.90 ft at 11 am on Wednesday.

This is above the first warning level of 43 ft.The authorities on Wednesday issued the first warning alert at 8.15 am as the water level touched 43 ft. "All flood duty officials have been positioned at Bhadrachalam division for attending relief and rescue operations. Forecast indicates further rise," the collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem district said.Officials said 9.43 lakh cusecs of water were released into the Godavari river and alerted people in villages residing along the river. People in low-lying areas were alerted and asked not to venture to streams and lakes which were overflowing.

District authorities have particularly cautioned against going to the places for taking videos and selfies.
