Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday said the NITI Aayog's latest fiscal health index of 18 major states exposed the Aam Aadmi Party's fake claims about progress in Punjab, as the state was placed at the bottom of the rankings."Punjab was ranked at the bottom of 18 major states of the country on the fiscal health index," Warring noted. "The NITI Aayog report is a scathing indictment of the AAP's colossal failure, which pushed the state to the bottom of the fiscal health index and virtual bankruptcy," he said. The Ludhiana MP reiterated his demand for a ‘White Paper' on Punjab's fiscal health so that people of the state know how the AAP destroyed Punjab economically, socially, and in terms of law and order.

The PCC chief said the Congress had time and again warned the govt against its "wanton extravagance" at the cost of Punjab's fiscal health, and the consequences were before all of us.The fiscal health index, he noted, evaluated the states on five parameters, which included revenue mobilisation, expenditure quality, fiscal prudence, debt levels, and debt sustainability. Punjab, he pointed out, scored just 12.4 out of 100, placing it at the bottom.

Warring recalled how the AAP leaders claimed to turn around the revenues of the state, citing imaginary figures such as curbing corruption and illegal sand mining. "All of them stand badly exposed today," he remarked. MSID:: 128751790 413 |
