Five arrested on charge of murdering youth in Alangudi

An 18-year-old youth was murdered by an armed group at Pathamapatti road in Alangudi police station limits on Wednesday night. The police gave the name of the deceased as D. Ranjith of Kallalangudi. He was a driver of a mini freight carrier. 

The Alangudi police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder that was committed because of previous motive between the victim and the accused, said the police. 

The police said Ranjith was attacked with sharp weapons with swords by the group near a liquor outlet. The body of the victim was sent for autopsy to the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital and handed over to the family members. The body was buried on Thursday. The Alangudi police have registered a case of murder.
