Panaji: Five men were apprehended at Manohar International Airport on Thursday by the tourism department in coordination with the tourist police for harassing tourists and violating the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act.Tourism director Kedar Naik said action was taken against the five men under Sections 2(g) and 26 of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act.“Accused persons have been fined and necessary action has been initiated,” said Naik. “The incident occurred in the vicinity of Manohar International Airport, Mopa, where these individuals were found carrying out illegal activities, causing inconvenience to visitors and obstructing the smooth movement of tourists in the area.”The five men have been identified as Muddasa Bepari, Ummeasma Jahagirdar, Siraj Shadguppi, Rohan Korgaonkar, and Badshah Khan.The men were fined as part of a crackdown on unauthorised service providers. The department said that they will continue to take action to protect tourists and uphold Goa’s tourism integrity.
