Around five passengers were injured after a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport  Corporation (BMTC) OHM Mobility-operated bus and a Vayu Vajra bus were involved in an accident near KR Circle in Bengaluru on Saturday morning.

According to the BMTC, the incident occurred at 8:30 A.M. when the Vayu Vajra bus –– operating from Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS) to Attibele –– was hit from behind by the BMTC electric bus, people familiar with the matter told CNN-News18. 

The BMTC said all passengers travelling in the OHM Mobility-operated bus were safe, adding no major injuries were reported. However, around five passengers –– who were among the passengers on the Vayu Vajra electric bus –– sustained minor injuries and were admitted to St. Martha’s Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the electric bus also sustained injuries, but his condition is said to be stable. Both buses were removed from the accident spot and traffic movement was restored, they said.

Soon after the accident, the BMTC Divisional Controller and senior officials and reached the spot, supervised the rescue operation and ensured the injured were shifted to hospital.

At present, investigators are examining the cause of the incident.
