The tentative fixtures for the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup have been released, with the tournament scheduled to kick off on July 23 and conclude on August 23.
In a major development, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who were earlier reported to have withdrawn, have been included following last-minute negotiations, as per reports.
Seven ISL clubs — Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Kerala Blasters FC, Bengaluru FC, Hyderabad FC, Odisha FC, and Mumbai City FC — have opted out of the competition due to uncertainty surrounding the scheduling of the upcoming ISL season.
The participating ISL clubs this year include Mohun Bagan SG, East Bengal FC, Mohammedan SC, NorthEast United FC, Punjab FC, and Jamshedpur FC. I-League 2 champions, Diamond Harbour FC, who earned promotion to the I-League this season, are set to make their Durand Cup debut. According to the tentative groupings, they have been drawn alongside Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan SC.
For the first time in its illustrious history, the Durand Cup will be held across five states — West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, and Manipur — underlining its growing national footprint.
The 2025 edition of the Durand Cup will kick off on July 23rd with Emami East Bengal FC facing Bengaluru-based South United FC (SUFC) at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.
The fixture marks the official start of a thrilling month-long campaign that will feature 43 matches across six cities, culminating in the final on August 23rd.
The group stage comprises six groups of four teams each, with every group playing six matches.
Six group winners and two best second-placed teams will progress to the quarterfinals, which are set to be held on August 16th and 17th. The semifinals are scheduled for August 19 and 20, leading up to the grand finale on Saturday, August 23rd.
Kolkata will host two groups, Group A and Group B, while Jamshedpur and Kokrajhar will host Groups C and D, respectively. Group E opens in Shillong, while Imphal shall host Group F.
The venues for the knockout rounds will be announced in due course.
