District Collector Sumit Kumar on Sunday said that the government remained committed to the progress of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Backward Classes (BC).

Speaking at the 119th birth anniversary celebrations of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram at Ambedkar Bhavan here, the Collector urged all beneficiaries to make the most of government welfare programmes to improve their social and economic status. He highlighted that governance mechanisms continue to ensure smooth administration and efficient grievance redressal, even at the village level. Mr. Sumit Kumar further pointed out that challenges such as drinking water, road connectivity, schools, land disputes, and hostel facilities in rural SC/ST areas still need attention.

Meanwhile, in Sri Sathya Sai district, Collector A. Shyam Prasad, along with former Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, paid tributes to Jagjivan Ram at PGRS hall in Puttaparthi. They recalled his contributions to the nation, urging the public to follow his path of service and social equality.
