Gone, but never forgotten. Diogo Jota — you will never walk alone.

The tragic death of Diogo Jota earlier this year sent shockwaves through the football world. The Liverpool family united in grief after the Portuguese forward and his brother, Andre Silva, lost their lives in a car crash in northern Spain in July.

As tributes poured in from across the globe, one of the most moving came from Liverpool themselves, honouring Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday.

Today, as every day, we remember Diogo Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday. All of our love, thoughts and prayers continue to be with his wife Rute, his children, parents and all of his family and friends, as well as those of his brother, Andre.

“Today, as every day, we remember Diogo Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday," the club posted on X.

“All of our love, thoughts and prayers continue to be with his wife Rute, his children, parents and all of his family and friends, as well as those of his brother, Andre.

Forever in our hearts, forever our number 20."

Liverpool fans have vowed to keep his memory alive — just as Jota always remembered those who helped shape his journey.

Before his untimely passing, Jota had celebrated both a Premier League title with Liverpool and a Nations League triumph with Portugal. Off the pitch, he had married his long-time partner Rute Cardoso just 11 days before the tragedy. His brother Silva, 25, also a professional footballer with Liga Portugal 2 side Penafiel, lost his life alongside him.

The brothers were laid to rest in their hometown of Gondomar near Porto. Friends, teammates and countless admirers came to mourn, including Elche star Silva, 30, and Rodrigues, who placed flowers at the chapel.

Months later, the loss is still deeply felt. The football world continues to honour Diogo and Andre, ensuring their legacy lives on — forever remembered, forever cherished.
