Leaving your phone, wallet, bag or other valuables behind on a train is more common than you might think. Many passengers realise only after getting off that they have forgotten something on their seat. But losing an item does not always mean it's gone forever. Indian Railways says forgotten belongings can often be recovered if reported quickly. Passengers should immediately call the Railway Helpline 139 or inform the nearest ticket inspector, station master or railway official to improve their chances of getting their belongings back.
