Former Dharmapuri MLA Chinnaswamy dies

DHARMAPURI: Former Dharmapuri MLA and DMK leader R Chinnaswamy died of age-related health issues on Thursday. He was 87.Chinnaswamy won the Dharmapuri assembly seat in 1971, 1984 and 1989 elections as a DMK candidate.

He had held the position of unified Dharmapuri district DMK secretary for 15 years.Chief minister M K Stalin condoled Chinnaswamy’s death. "I am profoundly saddened to hear of R Chinnaswamy's demise, who was elected as a DMK member in the Dharmapuri legislative assembly constituency in 1971, 1984 and 1989. He had made significant contributions to the district's development. His passing is a substantial loss for both the people of Dharmapuri and the party. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, party members and the public.
