Former Kollapur MLA Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy has alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide irrigation water to farmers in Pangal mandal despite the Jurala project being brimming with water.
During an inspection of the MJ4, D8, D18, and 19 canals in Davajipalli and Rainipalli villages in the Pangal mandal on Tuesday, the BRS leader has slammed the State government for allegedly neglecting the farmers’ needs, contrasting it with the previous government’s efforts under K. Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership.
The former MLA highlighted the issues plaguing the canals, including tree growth and debris, which obstruct water flow. He recalled the previous government’s initiatives, including the construction of checkdams and provision of compensation to farmers.
Mr. Reddy warned that if the issue is not resolved, the farmers will hold a dharna programme. He urged the District Collector to take the initiative to provide water to the farmers, accusing public representatives of neglecting their responsibilities.
