Former mukhiya’s son shot dead in Bhojpur

Ara: A 45-year-old man with a disability, Ritesh Singh, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Saturday morning while he was returning home after dropping his wife at a govt school.

Singh, who was shot in the head from close range, died on the spot. A large number of villagers gathered at the site, and palpable tension gripped the area following the murder of Singh, the son of a former mukhiya. The incident occurred near a canal in Bankat village under Garhani police station in Bhojpur district.SHO of Garhani police station, Kamaljeet, along with other police personnel, rushed to the spot. “The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has reached the spot and assisting the police in the investigation.

The body has been sent to the Sadar Hospital, Ara for postmortem,” the SHO said.Bhojpur SP Raj said, “Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage is being examined to identify and nab the culprits. Intensive raids are going on at the suspected hideouts of the culprits. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order and peace.”Sources said the incident may be an act of revenge linked to last year’s triple murder case on April 20, in which three young men had been shot dead over a parking dispute at Laharpa village during a wedding ceremony.
