Former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova returns to beloved getaway in chic beach look

Maria Sharapova gave fans another glimpse into life after tennis this week, returning to one of her favorite holiday destinations in the Italian Alps and sharing a series of scenic moments with fiancé Alexander Gilkes.

The five-time Grand Slam champion posted photos and videos from the mountain retreat, combining poolside relaxation with alpine hikes while drawing thousands of reactions across social media.The 39-year-old retired star captioned her Instagram post, "It was so magical in the winter, we had to come back in the summer. ☀️." The update quickly resonated with her 4.7 million followers, who flooded the comments with compliments and travel recommendations.

Even Serena Williams joined the conversation, adding a playful comment as Sharapova showcased the dramatic landscapes that have become one of her favorite vacation spots.

Sharapova's latest social media post featured two distinct sides of her summer getaway. In one image, she relaxed in an infinity pool overlooking the forested slopes of the Italian Alps. Wearing a rust-colored swimsuit with checked shoulder straps, dark sunglasses, gold hoop earrings and a delicate necklace, she smiled toward the camera against a backdrop of evergreen-covered mountains. The post also highlighted a more adventurous side of the trip. Sharapova and Gilkes were photographed on a rustic wooden bench overlooking the Dolomites after what appeared to be a mountain hike. Both were dressed for the outdoors, with trekking poles visible beside them. Additional clips showed the former world No. 1 swimming and hiking through the alpine landscape.Sharapova retired from professional tennis in 2020 after a career that included five Grand Slam singles titles.

She completed the career Grand Slam by winning the French Open in 2012, adding another Roland Garros title two years later after first lifting the Australian Open trophy in 2008.

Gilkes is a British entrepreneur, art collector and businessman with longstanding ties to the international art world. After working as an auctioneer at Phillips, he founded the online auction platform Paddle8 in 2011 with the goal of making fine art more accessible through technology.Following the sale of Paddle8 in 2018, Gilkes co-founded Squared Circles, a venture studio that invests in emerging businesses.
