Former WWE star's wife facing death threats after his controversial remarks on social media

Wrestling stars try to garner attention with controversial statements, especially on social media, in a bid to elevate their onscreen characters. One such name is former WWE superstar Ricochet. Ever since he joined AEW in 2024, he has experienced better success than his time in WWE.

The Lightskin Kingpin is known for being brash and making negative remarks on social media.

He recently did it again; however, this time it blew up like a major controversy and also dragged his wife and former WWE ring announcer, Samantha Irvin.Ricochet recently tweeted that he was glad that a woman was battling multiple sclerosis. This attracted a lot of backlash from the fans, leading to the former WWE United States Champion issuing an apology.

However, it irked some fans to the point that they targeted his wife, Samantha Irvin. The former WWE ring announcer and singer revealed via her Instagram that she had received death threats after Ricochet's recent antics.

This even led Irvin to deactivate her X account to avoid further scrutiny. Ricochet has lately been making negative comments about his former employer, WWE. At the same time, he is known to fire shots at fellow AEW wrestlers and fans, which are mostly in character.

The recent comment about the ailing woman could also have been in the same context; however, only Ricochet knows the real nature of making that remark, but he immediately realized that it was a mistake for which he apologized.

Former WWE star Ricochet left the company to join rival promotion

Ricochet had a long tenure in WWE starting from NXT and then wrestling on the main roster. However, he was primarily featured on the mid-card and never given a major push. This led to his departure from the company and joining rival promotion, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2024.

Sometime after joining the company, he turned on his heel, and the character began to experience huge success.Moreover, he even became the inaugural AEW National Champion at the 2025 AEW Full Gear pay-per-view. However, The One and Only lost the title at the recent Zero Hour show before the AEW Revolution 2026 pay-per-view in a 21-man Blackjack battle royal to Jack Perry.
