An infant was received in the Ammathottil electronic cradle of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare at Thycaud here on Sunday night.

The four-day-old boy weighing 2.25 kg was found in the cradle around 7 p.m. He was taken to the Women and Children Hospital in Thycaud for a medical check-up. Since he had no health problems, he was taken to the adoption centre of the child welfare council.

The boy has been named Swathik. He is the eighth child to be received in the Ammathottil this year. Any family of the infant should contact the council within two months since the adoption procedures have to be initiated, council general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said in a statement on Monday.
