At least people were killed and several others sustained injuries after an LPG tanker burst into flames following a collision at a toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district. The incident took place at around 6:40 am on June 26, while CCTV footage of the crash emerged on Friday.
The CCTV visuals show two LPG tankers heading towards the toll plaza. As one of the vehicles reaches the toll lanes, it suddenly swerves, mounts the divider and slams into the toll booths.
The impact damaged the tanker, causing liquefied petroleum gas to escape. The leaked gas soon ignited, setting off a powerful blast that sent flames shooting into the air. Thick clouds of smoke quickly covered the toll plaza as panic gripped the area.
Emergency teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The explosion claimed four lives, injured several people and caused extensive damage to the toll plaza and nearby vehicles.
