At least four people were killed in a major road accident near Sharda Mata on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district on Wednesday, police said.

According to preliminary information, a bus travelling towards Udhampur was being driven at high speed when it rammed into a motorcycle. The rider and the pillion passenger sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Moments later, the bus also hit two mechanics who were repairing a Mahindra load carrier parked along the highway. Both mechanics were killed in the impact, officials said.

Police teams reached the scene soon after the accident and launched an investigation. Traffic movement on the busy highway was temporarily disrupted, and further details are awaited.
