The international crackdown on the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has gathered pace, with France becoming the latest country to take action after the United States.
A suspected associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been arrested in France in connection with the firing outside comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada. In separate developments, Canadian authorities have arrested another accused and ordered the deportation of another alleged gang member to India.
Lawrence Aide Arrested In France
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said on Friday that Garinder Dev had been arrested in France and would be extradited to Canada.
According to a US Department of Justice indictment, the 40-year-old is also known by the aliases “Doctor", “Rocket" and “Ritz Carlton".
Investigators have accused Garinder Dev of providing financial support to the Lawrence Bishnoi-linked criminal network. He is alleged to have helped procure large quantities of cocaine and heroin and conspired to transport the drugs from Southern California to the eastern United States.
The case stems from an alleged attempt in June 2025 to transport around 99.2 kg of cocaine and 1 kg of heroin, which was intercepted and seized by US authorities before reaching its destination.
Canada Orders Deportation Of Jashandeep Singh
In a separate development, Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Tribunal has ordered the deportation of alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Jashandeep Singh.
He is accused of helping conceal the weapon allegedly used in the firing outside Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey. However, no criminal charges have been filed against him in the case.
Singh travelled to Canada on a student visa in 2022 and has denied all the allegations against him.
Earlier, another alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang associate, Arshdeep Singh, was deported from Canada.
Global Crackdown On Lawrence Bishnoi Gang
The recent actions by authorities in the US, France and Canada indicate an intensified international crackdown on the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and its overseas network.
Earlier this week, an international law enforcement operation targeting India-based transnational organised crime networks, including the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led to the arrest of 24 suspects across the United States, Canada and Europe. The operation is considered one of the biggest crackdowns in recent years on criminal syndicates accused of murder, drug trafficking, extortion and cross-border violence.
