Lewis Hamilton is helping Charles Leclerc at Ferrari this season, says team principal Fred Vasseur. When Hamilton joined Ferrari from Mercedes in 2025, it was seen as one of the biggest moves in Formula 1 history.

His arrival changed the dynamic inside the team. Vasseur now believes Hamilton’s presence has taken some pressure off Leclerc, allowing the Monegasque driver to focus more on his racing.

Speaking on the F1 Nation Podcast, Vasseur said Hamilton has made a difference from the start. “Probably, yes. I’m clear that this has helped Charles a little bit as well, to release some pressure from Charles,” he explained. Vasseur added that Leclerc “did a very good job from the beginning of the season” and is now “more mature.”

Vasseur also pointed to how Hamilton’s experience helps the entire garage. He called the seven-time world champion “an absolute master” who brings calm and focus to the team. With Hamilton taking much of the media spotlight, Leclerc has been able to perform with fewer distractions. According to Vasseur, this balance is improving Ferrari’s chances across the season.

Vasseur shared an example from a recent race. “I think Charles understood the position Lewis was in (grid penalty), so he didn’t ask for a tow,” he said. Leclerc also spoke about the situation: “As for the tow (makes a series of faces) – well. It wasn’t up to me, we didn’t go for it, it’s whatever.”

These exchanges show how both drivers respect each other while keeping things light. Fans have also noticed how Hamilton and Leclerc support one another during media duties and in the paddock. For Ferrari, that unity could prove important as the long season unfolds.
