India on Sunday strongly rejected what it described as “baseless" allegations made by Pakistan in connection with the recent violence in Balochistan, saying the claims were aimed at diverting attention from Islamabad’s own internal failures.
Responding to media queries on February 1, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We categorically reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan, which are nothing but its usual tactics to deflect attention from its own internal failings."
He added that Pakistan would do better to address long-standing demands of its people rather than “parroting frivolous claims" after every violent incident.
“Instead of parroting frivolous claims each time there is a violent incident, it would do better to focus on addressing long-standing demands of its people in the region. Its record of suppression, brutality and violation of human rights is well known," Jaiswal said.
The MEA’s response came after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi alleged India’s involvement in the recent attacks in Balochistan, which Pakistani authorities say resulted in the deaths of over 15 security personnel and 92 militants. The violence followed coordinated attacks by ethnic Baloch militant groups at multiple locations across the province on Saturday.
