 Catch Backstage Siblings this weekend

The set, they say, was built with Chennai’s musical sensibilities at its core.

This Sunday, Kolkata-based sibling duo Backstage Siblings — Prachi and Raghav — are set to bring their signature blend of soulful bhajans and Bollywood chartbusters to Chennai.

Their performance, scheduled at RK Convention Centre, promises a high-energy evening. In a chat with us, they share, “We’ve built the set keeping Chennai’s energy in mind. Our focus is on giving the audience songs they can sing along to fully, with the right mix of Bollywood, bhajans and spontaneous jamming moments.”The set, they say, was built with Chennai’s musical sensibilities at its core. “Chennai has a strong music culture, so the exciting part was putting together a set that feels familiar, high-energy and still very Backstage Siblings.

We want people to know the songs, but still feel surprised by how they come alive in a jam.”The siblings, often credited among the early voices in the “ bhajan clubbing” space, say it has been heartening to watch the movement grow. “When we started, the idea was simple: make bhajans feel more participative, not performative. Now, seeing so many people, especially younger audiences, connect with it feels very special.

It proves that devotion does not have to be quiet to be real,” they say.Ask about what excites them most about performing a combination of both Bollywood and bhajan , they say, “The contrast is the best part. One minute everyone is singing a Bollywood hook, and the same crowd is fully immersed in a bhajan the next moment. It shows how music can shift the mood completely, without losing the connection.”
