US Senator Lindsey Graham passed away following “a brief and sudden illness" on Saturday evening (local time). He was 71. The Republican Senator had been a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump. However, their relationship underwent a dramatic transformation after the initial years, when they did not appear to share a friendly rapport.
His demise is seen as a personal blow to the US President, for whom he was a frequent golf partner, besides being a political cheerleader. Trump has expressed grief over his sudden death.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead! He was always working, and was a true American Patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed!!! DETAILS AND ARRANGEMENTS TO FOLLOW. So sad!"
