Two personal security officers (PSOs) of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg have been accused of siphoning off lakhs of rupees from him. The accused, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya, had reportedly been associated with the late artist for several years and were among the people he trusted most. It is widely known that Zubeen Garg rarely carried cash with him. During tours or events, he would often take money from his bodyguards when needed and would, in turn, entrust them with funds he received from performances and other engagements.
During the investigation into Zubeen Garg’s murder case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) uncovered several disturbing details. According to the SIT report, both bodyguards were allegedly involved in significant financial irregularities and are accused of embezzling money belonging to the late artist. The investigation suggests that Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya lived lavishly using Zubeen Garg’s funds.
Financial Findings Against Nandeswar Bora
Nandeswar Bora was appointed as Zubeen Garg’s bodyguard in March 2018. Between March 2018 and September 2025, a total of Rs 45,30,133 was deposited into his bank account—approximately 220% more than his official government salary. The SIT report states that:
- Rs 4,12,400 was deposited by a relative from his home in Nagaon.
- Rs 1,35,351 was deposited by Krishanu Das.
- Rs 3,33,400 was deposited by Mridupawan Pathak.
- Rs 59,600 was deposited by Ridip Das.
Investigators say that all individuals who deposited money into Nandeswar’s account were close associates of Siddhartha Sharma. The SIT alleges that the entire sum was money belonging to Zubeen Garg and that Nandeswar Bora failed to return it.
Financial Irregularities in Paresh Baishya’s Account
Similarly, the SIT found irregularities in Paresh Baishya’s bank records. From January 2022 to September 6, 2025, Rs 36,93,339 was deposited into his account. Of this amount:
- Rs 15 lakh was taken in the name of a loan.
- Rs 18 lakh was credited as a sweep credit.
All these details have reportedly been submitted before the court by the SIT. The findings suggest that individuals who stayed close to Zubeen Garg “like shadows" allegedly exploited his trust and siphoned off his money.
Garima Garg Demands a Special Court
Speaking to the media outside the court, Garima Garg expressed emotional distress and renewed her demand for a special court to expedite the trial. “For months, I have not been in a stable condition. I am eagerly waiting for the court verdict. But in this process, justice will be delayed. As I requested earlier, the proceedings must take place in a special court," she said. Garima Garg also stated that she could not see “even a minimum sense of regret" on the faces or in the body language of the accused.
Advocate Calls for Fast-Track Proceedings
Advocating for a dedicated court, Garima Garg’s lawyer said that the submission of documents is still incomplete, which could significantly delay the case. “Till date, the procedure of submitting documents has not been completed. That is why a fast-track court is needed. A dedicated court should handle this case; otherwise, it may take a very long time—even up to 20 years—to reach a verdict. The court proceedings must move faster," the advocate stated.
