Fruit vendor stabbed to death

A 21-year-old fruit vendor was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend over a trivial row near government hospital on M.G. road in Chintamani on Tuesday.

The deceased Arbaaz and the accused Farhad used to have shops next to each other. They were friends and used to chide each other hurling abuses for fun.

On Tuesday, the duo argued over a trivial row after hurling abuses at each other. In the melee, Farhad picked up scissors and allegedly stabbed his neck and escaped. Passers-by rushed to help Arbaaz, but he collapsed due to the deep cut and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding .

Based on the complaint, the Chintamani police tracked down Farhad, 24, who was hiding at his house and arrested him.

He was produced before the court and taken into custody for further investigation.
