Fruits of welfare schemes should reach all the eligible people: CM

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the officials concerned to take steps to ensure that the spree of welfare schemes launched by the government reach all eligible beneficiaries.

Officials should explain to the people about the welfare schemes that are being implemented through gram sabhas during the Praja Palana - Pragati Pranalika, the 99-day action plan starting on March 9. Response of the beneficiaries to initiatives like ration cards, supply of fine rice through public distribution system, free power and Indiramma Indlu weaker section housing programme should be elicited during the mass contact programme.

The programme should involve participation of the elected representatives from villages to districts for making it effective. The Chief Minister made the remarks during a conference of District Collectors and senior officials to review the preparedness for the conduct of the 99-day action plan here on Tuesday.

He directed the officials to work in mission mode and treat each day of the 99-day period as important. He asserted that he would personally review the progress of the people centric programme and warned that any lapses in the implementation of the programme would not be tolerated.

The programme had been conceived to ensure that decisions taken by the government translated into results at the ground level and the administrative machinery should accordingly work with the objective of reaching out the benefits to eligible people. He wanted the officials to create awareness among people on the changes that were being ushered in in the education system while steps should be taken to connect the government hospitals with the medical colleges closer to them as part of strengthening the hospital network for providing effective medicare.

Steps should be taken to ensure payment of bills to agencies engaged in the implementation of te mid day meal scheme.
