Fund freeze: HC asks TMC to send notices to bank, cops

Kolkata: The Calcutta HC on Monday directed TMC to give notice to bank and police authorities in connection with freezing of the political party’s funds. The case may be taken up for hearing on Tuesday.Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter before the single bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya on Monday seeking an urgent hearing at 2pm.Justice Bhattacharyya told the senior advocate to serve all the respondents and stated that if the matter is not taken up on Monday, it will be heard on Tuesday.TMC’s accounts were frozen after initially former minister Aroop Biswas wrote to bank authorities seeking funds to be frozen and later the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction going to the police to seek the same.The bank later directed no withdrawal was allowed from the three concerned accounts.
