Kanpur: A 52-year-old senior manager of GAIL India Limited was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his official residence in the Dibiyapur area of Auraiya on Monday after neighbours alerted police about a foul smell emanating from the house.
The body, believed to be three to four days old, was recovered from inside the locked residence, and police are investigating the cause of death.The deceased, Bajapu Reddy Renati (52), was a native of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. He was serving as a senior manager in the electrical department at GAIL India Limited's compressor station.According to police, since there had been no movement at his residence for the past few days, residents informed the police.
NTPC outpost in-charge Dharmendra Sharma reached the spot and broke open the door, following which Renati's body was found lying on a bed. His mobile phone was found near the body.Police said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition, with bloating and peeling skin, suggesting that the death had occurred three to four days earlier.After completing the initial inquiry, police shifted the body to the Community Health Centre (CHC), from where it was sent for a postmortem.
The deceased's family has been informed and has left for Auraiya.SHO Satyaprakash Singh said the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. "The family has been informed. The matter is being investigated. The cause of death will be clarified after the investigation and post-mortem examination," he said.
