The Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar Fair, featuring 150 stalls with artisans from 25 States, was inaugurated at the JSS Urban Haat in Mysuru on Saturday.
MLA for Krishnaraja T.S. Srivatsa inaugurated the fair, organised for the first time under the sponsorship of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi. The fair will be held till September 21.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by K. Dhanarajan, Deputy Director, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Chennai, as the chief guest.
M. Shivananjaswamy, Project Officer, JSS Mysuru Urban Haat; Sabir and Swadeshi, representatives of the Handicraft Service Center, Mysuru; and other dignitaries were present.
Several award-winning artisans will be participating in the event.
In addition to showcasing a diverse range of handicrafts, JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s JSS Hospital has arranged a free health check-up camp for artisans and visitors at the fair.
The Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar Fair will remain open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
