COIMBATORE: A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a four-member gang near Coimbatore on Friday. According to police, the boy, who hails from Tirupur district, was staying at a govt school boys' hostel in Sokkampalayam near Annur.
He was a Class VIII student.On Friday, after skipping classes, the boy accepted a lift offered by four men who approached him on two motorcycles. The gang took him to a TASMAC bar in Somanur on the outskirts of Coimbatore where they allegedly forced him to consume alcohol. Later, they took him to another location where they allegedly harassed and assaulted him with iron rods.After the assault, the intoxicated boy was abandoned in Kadampadi village. Locals found him and alerted the Sulur police, who then informed his parents and admitted him to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The police said the boy had sustained multiple serious injuries. They said he might have been sexually assaulted by the gang. The police were reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
