The Akhila Bharata Ganiga Sangh has urged the State government to allocate ₹500 crore to the Ganiga Development Corporation and induct a representative from the community in the Cabinet.

Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Monday, the organisation’s newly appointed State president Suresh Sajjan said that the Congress government has continued to neglect the Ganiga community despite its longstanding demands.

Mr. Sajjan said that the previous BJP government established the Ganiga Development Corporation following sustained protests by the community. He, however, said that the Congress-led government has delayed its effective implementation and called for the corporation to be made operational immediately with a minimum allocation of ₹500 crore.

He also demanded that either Laxman Savadi or B.K. Sangameshwara, both MLAs from the community, should be inducted in the State Cabinet to ensure adequate political representation for the community.

Mr. Sajjan said that the organisation will launch a State-wide tour to strengthen the community socially, educationally, economically and politically. He warned that if the government continues to ignore the community’s legitimate demands, the organisation will launch a State-wide agitation in the coming days.
