Garrett Crochet is an MLB pitcher who throws hard with elite velocity and strikeouts, and Aaron Judge is the superstar slugger of the New York Yankees and one of the most powerful hitters in baseball history.
Their confrontations are a traditional battle of pitching and the power of the best.Later in the 2025 season, Garrett Crochet proved to be one of the select few pitchers who could consistently challenge Aaron Judge, at one point striking him out six times in a row, and their confrontations became appointment viewing, with the showcases being characterized by high-velocity duels where each of the two players was performing at the pinnacle of their respective abilities.
Head-to-head career stats
Crochet has maintained a significant lead over Judge through the end of the 2025 season, primarily due to his superior strikeout performance. In 15 plate appearances, Judge had three hits, two home runs, and a total of 11 strikeouts, making the batting average two hundred. These stats show that even one of baseball's most feared hitters has struggled with Crochet's speed and tardiness.
The ‘100 MPH vs. 100 MPH’ battles
The 2025 season resulted in a scene that is referred to as power-versus-power, and the most memorable one came in a June 13 game at Fenway Park.
By the ninth, Crochet had hit Judge three times that night, and he streaked with six straight strikeouts, beginning where he had left him the night before. On his 105th pitch, Crochet threw a 100.2 mph fastball, and it dared Judge with sheer power in the center of the zone.
Aaron Judge replied with a low 99.6 mph fastball in the zone as the seventh pitch of the at-bat. He hit the ball 115.5 mph off the bat and hit it 443 feet over the Green Monster to tie the game, the farthest he had ever homered in his career. The home run notwithstanding, analysts also observed that Crochet was capable of disrupting the timing of a Judge, since Judge was only able to hit on three of 29 pitches during their first six encounters throughout the season. In the zone, Crochet used the strategy of attacking with a four-seam fastball, but this strategy only worked until one ball was lowered and was in the power zone of Judge. Following the battle, Judge called Crochet the finest pitcher in the game, which serves as an indication that two of the greatest talents of the baseball world respected each other.
