Gaya: District magistrate Shashank Shubhankar has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress in implementing the directive for physical verification of all licensed firearms in the district.
The verification drive was initiated in view of the upcoming assembly elections. In a firm directive issued on Thursday, the DM instructed officials concerned to ensure 100% compliance with the order. He also announced a final extension of the deadline, stating that all licensed arms must now be presented for physical verification by authorised officers on or before Sept 30. He emphasised that no further extensions will be granted.According to official records, the initial verification window was opened between May 2 and May 16. This was later extended to July 10, but a large number of licensed arms holders failed to comply. A third deadline was then set for 5 August, yet compliance remained unsatisfactory.
