Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) M. Maheshwar Rao directed officials to conduct a detailed survey for the construction of a road within the Bellandur lake buffer zone to ease traffic congestion in the area.

During an inspection of locations in the East and South City Corporation limits on Tuesday, Mr. Rao instructed authorities to assess the feasibility of constructing the road, examining the land parcels in the buffer zone and to submit a comprehensive report. The proposed road, approximately 1 km long and 24 metres wide, will include provisions for public movement and recreational use, and is expected to substantially reduce traffic along the Bellandur lake bund road.

The GBA Chief said that steps have been initiated for the construction of a 1.4 km-long buffer road as an alternative to Wind Tunnel Road. The land for this project belongs to HAL, whose authorities have given consent to the road. Tenders have been invited, and government approval is being sought, with officials instructed to commence work at the earliest.

Mr. Rao also inspected the ongoing construction of the 2.6 km buffer road connecting Ejipura Inner Ring Road to Sarjapur Outer Ring Road.
