GCCI launches MSME facilitation cell to boost businesses

Panaji: Despite micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) generating jobs, supporting local supply chains, and contributing to the state’s economy, manufacturing units often face challenges.

These include access to finance, technology upgradation, compliance requirements, and market linkages, said Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) president Pratima Dhond.Speaking at the launch of GCCI’s MSME Aadhar Stambh, Dhond said that the dedicated MSME development cell will focus on outreach with business leaders, buyer–seller meets, technology and innovation awareness, specialised training, round-table discussions, and promotion of Goa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Industrialist Manguirish Pai Raiker, who is leading the initiative, said that despite MSMEs being the backbone of Goa’s economy, outdated technology, a shortage of skilled manpower, and other challenges hinder their growth and competitiveness.Raiker also emphasised collaboration between govt, financial institutions, and industry bodies to strengthen entrepreneurship and industrial development in Goa.

GCCI also set up a helpdesk for UDYAM (MSME) registrations to assist entrepreneurs in formalising their enterprises and accessing govt benefits. The initiative aims to strengthen Goa’s MSME ecosystem by improving access to information, finance, mentorship, and markets, contributing to sustainable growth and job creation.
