The general council meeting organised by the PMK founder S. Ramadoss near Puducherry on Sunday cannot be considered as the general council meeting of PMK “as it was not presided over by the president, general secretary or treasurer elected by the general council meeting,” according to K Balu, a key confidante of Mr Ramadoss’s estranged son Anbumani.

In a statement, Mr. Balu said that the meeting, attended among others by PMK floor leader G.K. Mani and Salem West MLA, R. Arul, and other Vanniyar Sangam leaders, violated the party bylaws 15 and 16. “The decisions announced in the meeting wouldn’t be binding on the party in any manner,” he said.

Mr. Balu’s statement comes after a 16-point disciplinary action report against Mr. Anbumani, listing out “his anti-party activities”, which was read out by former PMK president, G.K. Mani at the meeting attended by Mr Ramadoss.
