As the icy breath of Snezhnaya begins to stir, Genshin Impact stands on the brink of revealing one of its most mysterious, lore-laden areas-Nod-Krai, an autonomous frontier where the Fatui exercise political authority in conjunction with the shadows cast by a lost golden civilization.
Scheduled for launch in 6.0, Nod-Krai is poised for not just tectonic landscape alterations but also an unprecedented proliferation of characters, factions, and story arcs that tie into the greater narrative of the game.
All About The Region
Unlike the other regions, Nod-Krai is not merely another waypoint on the Traveler's journey-it is a politically charged and spiritually charged zone. The area of this region is set to be contested, with limited oversight from the Tsaritsa, and shaping forces said to be carved by dark histories, ancient prophecies, and fractured loyalties.
Here, one might expect several overlapping narratives-from divine intercession to rebellion within the Fatui ranks.
The update hints at a major convergence of forces long-silenced: the witches of Hexenzirkel, the elusive Frostmoon Scions, and the higher orders of the Palestar Edict. With each faction revealed, the path between hero, villain, and observer becomes even foggier.
The Character Lineup
A diverse set of characters native to or at present active in Nod-Krai have been established by Hoyoverse, each bringing a unique thematic resonance to the story:
- Lauma & Nefer: Frostmoon Scions, they speak of ancient strength and a lineage connected to the moon.
- Nicole Reeyn: A mute prophetess from the Hexenzirkel who communicates telepathically. She is at the mystical core of the narrative, and there is a possibility that she foresees what will happen to Teyvat.
- Alice: As the enigmatic founder of Hexenzirkel and Klee’s mother, her rumored involvement hints at the union of past legends and future prophecies.
- Aino: Aino stands in some relation to Ineffa, who possibly had something to do with the arrival of the Traveler. She may be a gatekeeper between domains or alliances.
- Varka: Playing alongside the last teased Grand Master of Mondstadt, he will soon get a long-awaited playable incarnation. His strength and moral backbone might point toward impending strife between Mondstadt and the Fatui.
- Durin and Jahoda: With Durin now reborn in human form, his interactions with Jahoda could bring to light yet unheard-of secret aspects of alchemy, dragons, and the legacy of Rhinedottir.
- Sandrone & Columbina: These two Fatui Harbingers embody the resurgence of civil strife within the Fatui. Columbina, now dubbed the "Moon Maiden," is allegedly the first to betray the Tsaritsa.
Factions in Play
The most interesting part about this, one might say, is the multi-factional power struggle unfolding at Nod-Krai.
The Frostmoon Scion are customarily supposed to be the spawn of a forgotten golden civilization, scattered across Hiisi Island and in some secret places in the wild. Their secrets could shake the convention of elemental lore in Teyvat.
