GFP demands immediate release of Samagra Shiksha teachers’ pay

Panaji: Samagra Shiksha’s contract teachers for physical education, art and work education have not received their salaries since April, said the Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Monday.GFP also claimed that the 5% annual increment promised to the 500-odd instructors employed under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The party has demanded immediate release of all pending salaries and implementation of the increment with arrears.These instructors earn between Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per month.“Despite shaping the future of our children, these teachers continue to suffer. Govt must immediately release their pending salaries.

Teachers deserve respect, not financial hardship,” said GFP general secretary Durgadas Kamat.Samagra Shiksha is an integrated school education scheme launched by the central govt in 2018. The scheme was introduced by merging the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) programme and Teacher Education (TE) programme.
