Giannis Antetokounmpo delivers historic performance as Greece claims EuroBasket bronze
The close game between Finland and Greece ended with Giannis Antetokounmpo and his team winning the bronze medal. After the victory, Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar and a former NBA MVP and champion, opened up about it.He stated:“We did it. This is probably one of the biggest accomplishments that I’ve ever accomplished as an athlete.. I know I’ve won an NBA championship, but there’s no feeling like representing your national team and representing 12 million people that breathe and live this national team. This is probably the greatest accomplishment so far in my life.”
He then referred to a previous statement made by the head coach Vassilis Spanoulis at the news conference following the game and continued:“I am very happy for the team. I am very happy for the nation. After 16 years, as the coach said, we were able to bring success to the team..
From day one, we went to the training camp, we kept each other very, very accountable every single day.” He added:“Everybody believed in a common goal, which was to fight for, not for what we deserve, but earn a medal, because you don’t deserve anything in life, you have to earn it.. I think this is something we have been waiting for a long time, and we feel relieved.”He even uploaded pictures of himself and his brothers and fellow teammates posing with the medals in the locker room. During the match, Giannis recorded a double-double of 30 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in the third-place game. Greece captured two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in the EuroBasket, their sixth time standing on a podium.
Giannis Antetokounmpo ranked fourth in NBA player ratings amid trade speculation
On the other hand, Milwaukee Bucks sensation Giannis Antetokounmpo was allegedly treated disrespectfully during a recent NBA insider’s player rating. The Bucks have improved over the last ten years under Antetokounmpo's capable leadership. He is the team's best player and one of the best in the league.
However, the insider apparently doesn't think so. He ranked the Greek legend in the 4th position. He then went on to explain why Giannis was ranked fourth in the NBA and how he compared to the other greats.
He further discussed why the Milwaukee Bucks trading Giannis to the Atlanta Hawks to partner him with Trae Young may be a smart move for both teams. Talking about it, Jason Timpf said in an episode of Hoops Tonight:“I have Shay Gilis Alexander at number three and Luca Donuch at number two. This is I'm certain the player ranking that I will catch the most for in this year's list just because of what happened last season…”However, Giannis didn’t say anything about it as of yet.
