Girl found murdered after sexual assault in Bhojpur

Patna: A six-year-old girl from Mahadalit community was found murdered following a sexual assault in Bhojpur, said police.On Wednesday morning, her body was found in a canal by local residents.

After villagers recovered the body, they informed the authorities. The victim was taken to a govt hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was raped.According to the girl’s mother's statement, the child was sleeping inside the house around 8pm on Tuesday. When she stepped out to visit a neighbour’s house, she received a call from her father who works outside the state, to know where her daughter was. When she went inside the house, she found the girl missing.

The police were informed and a search drive was launched. However, she could not be found by night.SHO, who is leading the investigation, confirmed the severity of the injuries sustained by the girl. He said, “The body was found fully clothed, however, her teeth were broken.”The family has pointed to one Mukesh Yadav (35), as the primary suspect. The mother alleged that Yadav was a frequent visitor to their home and was seen snooping around the house shortly before the girl disappeared.A formal FIR has been registered based on these allegations, and the police are currently conducting raids to locate the suspect. Mukesh is absconding.
