Goa shares draft AI policy with stakeholders for inputs

Panaji: The IT department has prepared a draft artificial intelligence policy for Goa and circulated it among stakeholders for feedback. Officials said further consultations will continue in the coming weeks with industry players, academicians and central govt.The proposed policy focuses on the Goa AI Mission 2027, aimed at promoting digital innovation, strengthening digital governance and creating new start-up ecosystem and opportunities.“Artificial Intelligence is rapidly emerging as a key driver of innovation, governance and economic growth. Goa must adopt forward-looking policies to harness its potential,” IT minister Rohan Khaunte said while chairing a meeting to review the draft policy.

Sarvam AI founder Shubham Arora, IndiaAI Mission’s FutureSkills GM Kartik Suri and consultants from Grant Thornton attended the meeting.Participants also discussed developing a Konkani Large Language Model (LLM) in collaboration with the Centre’s initiatives such as Bhashini to ensure AI tools remain inclusive.Stakeholders identified public service delivery, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, education and e-governance as priority sectors. The department has already rolled out an AI-powered chatbot on the GoaOnline e-governance platform this year. US-based blockchain and AI firms McLaren Strategic Solutions and Omnumi, which began operations in Goa are exploring partnerships with local IT firms.
