Godavari crosses first flood warning level in Bhadrachalam

The water level in Godavari river at Bhadrachalam has crossed the first flood warning level of 43 feet at 7.22 p.m. on Friday and reached 43.90 feet at 9 p.m., carrying 9.71 lakh cusecs of floodwaters downstream. The first flood warning was issued as per the Godavari flood manual after the river touched the 43 feet mark. People living in the riverside villages and flood-prone areas of Bhadrachalam Agency and elsewhere in Bhadradri Kothagudem district have been advised to take safety precautions and desist from venturing into the river. Flood control rooms have been activated in Bhadrachalam to deal with exigencies.
