The Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) is likely to submit its field report by June 10 on the measures to tackle the devotees along the banks of river Godavari during the Godavari Pushkarams-2027. The CUMTA has already commenced its field study to prepare a draft plan for the crowd management and mobility of the vehicles during the pushkarams.
East Godavari District Collector Keerthi Chekuri, Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore and Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena and the CUMTA team on Wednesday held discussions on the progress of the study about crowd management for the event.
Ms. Keerthi stated that at least one crore devotees are expected to take holy dip in Rajamahendravaram and Kovvuru along the banks of Godavari during the first five days of the pushkarams.
Meanwhile, Mr. Meena proposed 17 entry points for devotees and their vehicles, along with real-time monitoring of devotees at all ghats, to divert their movements towards the nearby ghat.
