New Delhi: Google is preparing to roll out AI Inbox in Gmail for its AI Ultra users in beta. Google first announced this feature in January, and the AI Inbox feature is now rolling out to select users for experimentation. The AI Inox features let users reduce clutter by organizing messages into smart summaries, by highlighting urgent tasks, and by surfacing key upgrades.

AI Inox appears as a separate section above the regular inbox on the web. Rather than showing emails in the usual time-based order, it also organizes them into a simple, easy-to-read summary of the important upgrades. This actually means that the users can quickly understand what needs attention without opening each of the emails individually.

The users are shown a greeting alongside a timestamp, suggesting the latest refresh. Gmail also highlights suggested to-dos by featuring the actionable items, such as bill payments, reminders, or urgent tasks.

Each of the items is linked to the relevant emails, and it comes with the checkmark option, making it easier for users to track and manage tasks quickly. Less urgent upgrades are grouped under the Topics to catch up on section. This also includes categories such as events, travel plans, or health-related upgrades by making it easier to skim through information.

The feature also identifies priority contacts or VIPs, which are based on the user’s behavior, such as frequent conversations and saved contacts. This is also supposed to highlight important emails automatically. AI Inbox is powered by the Gemini 3, and it runs in an engineered privacy environment.

The user’s data stays within the secure processing space and is not used to train AI models. The users can also turn off AI features anytime via settings.
