New Delhi: In some reports, it has confirmed that Android’s Quick Share interoperability with Apple’s AirDrop will expand beyond the Pixel 10 series to more Android devices this year itself. The company has stated that it is working with other brands to extend the functionality across the rest of the Android ecosystem. Qualcomm has also previously confirmed that the Android smartphones running the Snapdragon processor will soon gain support for cross-platform file sharing with Apple devices. Android’s Quick Share works with Apple’s AirDrop, but only with the Pixel 10 devices. This enables Android’s Quick Share to send and receive files directly with Apple’s AirDrop.

Google has been reported to have already taken steps that hinted at a wider rollout. Google will allow the feature by updating the Quick Share extension from the system application stub into the full APK, with its own listing on the Play Store. This change has suggested that the AirDrop interoperability was being treated as a core Quick Share feature, rather than something exclusive to the Pixel hardware.

Google spends considerable time making sure that the feature works with iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Google is also working with the hardware partners to expand its presence across the Android ecosystem, with the official announcements expected to be made soon. While Google has not yet named the specific phones or brands, the comments suggested that the AirDrop compatibility might extend beyond the Pixel devices.
