New Delhi: Google has officially introduced its next-generation Nano Banana 2, the latest version of Google’s image generation and editing tool. Latest Nano Banana 2 is powered by the Gemini 3.1 Flash Image model, and it is stated to combine advanced knowledge, with improved image quality and stronger reasoning, with faster generation speeds.

Original Nano Banana was unveiled in August last year for the image creation and editing. Google has also followed it up with Nano Banana Pro, which focuses on higher intelligence and more detailed creative control. Nano Banana 2 is especially designed to bring together the key strengths of both versions.

Nano Banana 2 brings the speed of the Gemini Flash to image generation by allowing faster edits and quicker iteration. It has also added that the model is going to make several features that were previously limited to the Pro version available to a wider set of users.

The model uses Gemini’s knowledge base along with the real-time information and images from the web search to better represent specific subjects. Google stated that this also helps users to create infographics, convert notes into diagrams, and generate data visualizations.

Nano Banana 2 can also generate clearer and more accurate text within the images for uses such as marketing mockups or greeting cards. It can also translate and localize the text directly inside the image. Nano Banana 2 reduces the gap between speed and visual quality by delivering high-quality, photorealistic images while maintaining fast performance.

Nana Banana 2 is rolling out across some Google products. It also replaces Nano Banana Pro across Fast, Thinking, and Pro models, though Pro subscribers can still access the Nano Banana Pro when needed.

This model is also available in Search through AI Mode and Lens, AI Studio, the Gemini API, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, Flow, and Google Ads. Nano Banana 2 is especially designed for fast generation and precise instruction, while Nano Banana Pro remains available for the high-fidelity tasks requiring maximum factual accuracy.
