New Delhi: In some reports, it has been suggested that Google is going to start rolling out the Past Chats feature to free-tier Gemini users globally. This past chat feature was earlier only available for limited paid subscribers; it enables Gemini to reference the users’ previous conversations to offer more personalized responses.
This update is now extending to the free users across the regions, except in Europe, where it will arrive at a later date. Gemini can look back at the earlier conversations to better understand a user’s preferences and context. This actually means that the users do not need to repeat details from earlier chats when continuing the discussion.
Gemini will use context from earlier interactions to respond accordingly. The users can also directly ask the assistant if they used any info from past chats in follow-up prompts. Google has also added the latest Personal Context page in the Gemini settings. The users can turn on or off the Your past chats with Gemini option.
There is also an Instructions for Gemini section to control how the assistant responds. This latest feature is rolling out to the free users in all regions where Gemini is available, with Europe set to receive it later.
Google has also reported plans to extend personalization further, and the company will eventually bring a broader Personal Intelligence feature for free users. These tools are expected to tap into first-party applications like Gmail, Google Photos, and others to offer more context-aware responses.
